Oxymetolone is a steroid anabolic. It penetrates the cell nucleus and activates the cell's genetic apparatus, resulting in increased synthesis of DNA, RNA and structural proteins, activation of tissue respiration chain enzymes, oxidative phosphorylation, ATP synthesis and accumulation of macroelements inside the cell. Stimulates anabolic and inhibits catabolic processes caused by glucocorticoids. Increases muscle mass, reduces fat deposits, improves tissue trophicity, promotes calcium deposition in bones, traps sodium and water in the body. Hematopoietic action is associated with increased synthesis of erythropoietin. Androgenic activity (low) may contribute to the development of secondary sexual characteristics of the male type.
Violations of protein synthesis, cachexia of different origin; injuries, extensive burns, after infectious diseases and radiation; muscle dystrophy, osteoporosis, negative nitrogen balance in corticosteroid therapy, hypo- and aplastic anemia.
METHOD OF APPLICATION AND DOSES:
Adults are prescribed a dose of 2-3 mg/kg. The duration of treatment is 3 months and can be prolonged depending on the result.
- women - symptoms of virilization, depression of ovarian function, menstrual cycle disorders, hypercalcemia.
- men: in the prepubertary period - symptoms of virilization, idiopathic hyperpigmentation of the skin, slowdown or termination of growth (calcification of epiphysisal growth zones of the tubular bones); in the postpubertary period - irritation of the bladder, gynecomastia, priapism; in old age - hypertrophy and/or carcinoma of the prostate gland.

PRECAUTIONS AND FEATURES OF USE:
When the first signs of virilization in women (coarsening of the voice, hirsutism, acne, clitoromegaly), the administration should be stopped to prevent irreversible changes. There may be compression of factors II, VII, VII and X of blood clotting and increase of prothrombin time. Periodically check lipidemia and cholesterol levels. Children should be prescribed by an experienced specialist to prevent premature ossification of bone epiphysis.
INTERACTION WITH OTHER DRUGS:
Glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids, corticotropin, sodium-containing drugs and food rich in sodium, potentiate fluid retention in the body, increase the risk of swelling, increase the severity of acne rashes. Strengthens the effects of antiaggregants, indirect anticoagulants, insulin and oral antidiabetic drugs weakens - somatotropin and its derivatives.
